Since 1989 the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award has recognised up-and-coming talent from the UK and this week the six 2012 finalists visited the McLaren Technology Centre for their final interviews with the judging panel. We caught up with Jake Dennis, Jack Hawksworth, Josh Hill (son of 1996 F1™ World Champion Damon Hill and grandson of 1962 and 1968 F1 World Champion Graham Hill), Jordan King, Melville McKee and Josh Webster to discover the stories behind their driving careers so far.

The McLaren Manufacturing Challenge is an annual competition designed to raise the profile and help improve the image of high-tech manufacturing and engineering. Finalists teams are invited to spend an afternoon at the McLaren Technology Centre, where they get to see how a Formula 1 team operates and how McLaren designs its world leading super cars, before the big race begins. Business Secretary Vince Cable was there to help present the 2012 McLaren Manufacturing Challenge trophy to this year’s winning school.
