Lewis Hamilton secured his second consecutive pole position for Mercedes in what turned out to be a very difficult qualifying, run only on intermediate and full wet tyres. Sebastian Vettel got close but will start from second place, ahead of Rosberg and Alonso.
Lewis Hamilton claimed a second successive wet-weather pole position – equalling the 46-year-old British F1 pole record in the process – to provide the platform to ignite his 2014 season in the Malaysia GP.
