The final day of the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi saw Robin Frijns take over from Red Bull Junior driver António Félix da Costa at the wheel of the RB8. Robin earned his place in the cockpit by virtue of winning this year’s Formula Renault 3.5 series and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
The final day of the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi saw reigning GP2 Series champion Davide Valsecchi top the time sheets in the Lotus E20. Davide completed a total of 86 laps, running a comprehensive testing programme and showcasing his talent by quickly getting up to speed with the car and team.
Formula One drivers have been told to stop swearing after the outbursts from Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen in Abu Dhabi.
Today was the last of a three day Young Driver Test and effectively brought to a close the busiest three week stint on the F1 calendar, with two Grands Prix in India and Abu Dhabi, followed by this test. This was also the final day of F1 testing in 2012.
Esteban Gutiérrez added another 80 laps to the Sauber F1 tally on Thursday, which was his second and final day of testing in Abu Dhabi. Overall the Sauber F1 Team covered 252 laps at the Yas Marina Circuit with Robin Frijns contributing 78 laps on the first day.

Alexander Rossi returned to the cockpit of a Formula One car for the first time since the Barcelona GP, where he competed in FP1 for Caterham F1. This time around, the team wanted him to try out various setup options in light of the final two races of the 2012 season.

GP2 Champion Davide Valsecchi has topped the final day of testing at Abu Dhabi at the wheel of the Lotus E20. The Italian posted a time of 1m42.677s and was therefore also the fastest man of the entire 3-day test.

Today ten lucky JA on F1 competition winners got the chance to see how the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team designs, builds and modifies its F1 cars on a unique behind the scenes tour of the factory in Brackley. Three separate Formula One testing events for young drivers were organised this year, including a session for some teams at Silverstone in July, then at Magny-Cours in September with the final session having just taken place at Abu Dhabi. Six drivers from the Formula Renault 3.5 Series made the most of these days to showcase their talents in Formula One, proving once again that the premier class in the World Series by Renault is the perfect feeding ground for the pinnacle of motorsport.
